What actually drives usage in Counter-Strike 2

CS2 is light on memory and demanding on CPU. What matters isn't RAM but processor frequency and network quality, because the subtick system calculates the exact position of every shot between ticks. A server with modest RAM and a good CPU performs better than the other way round.

Common Counter-Strike 2 problems and how to fix them

1Shots feel inconsistent

In CS2 subtick replaces classic tickrate, so raising ticks doesn't help. Check latency and packet loss with `net_graph 1`: most hit-registration complaints are network routing, not the server.

2SourceMod plugins won't load

CS2 uses Metamod:Source 2. Plugins compiled for CS:GO won't work. Verify both Metamod and each plugin have a CS2-specific build.

3Workshop maps don't load

You need the collection ID and a configured Steam Web API key. Without it the server boots but stays on the default map.

Counter-Strike 2 frequently asked questions

How many slots do I need for CS2?

For a private 5v5 with room for spectators, 12 slots is enough. For retakes or community servers, 24-32. For surf or minigames with a crowd, take 64.

Can I install SourceMod plugins?

Yes, SourceMod and MetaMod install from the panel, then you can upload any .smx plugin over FTP and configure it with the file editor.

Do you support Workshop maps?

Yes. You can load Steam Workshop maps by ID, or upload your own .vpk files manually over FTP.

What tickrate do the servers run?

CS2 uses subtick, so classic tickrate no longer works like it did in CS:GO. What matters is CPU and networking: we use high-frequency processors and optimised routes to minimise delay.
