Billing and account

How to change your billing cycle (monthly, quarterly, yearly)

Going from paying monthly to every three, six or twelve months. You keep the days you paid for and the server never notices.

If you would rather pay once for several months — fewer invoices, less chance of missing a renewal and, when the longer cycle is discounted, less money — you can change the cycle yourself from the panel.

The steps

  1. Open your service in the panel.
  2. Click Change billing cycle.
  3. You will see your current cycle, how far it is paid up and the cycles available. Each one shows its price and what it works out as per month, so you can actually compare.
  4. Pick one and click Generate invoice.
  5. Pay it. As soon as the payment lands, the service moves to the new cycle.

Worth knowing first

  • You do not lose the days you have paid for. The new cycle starts counting from your current expiry date, not from today.
  • Your server is not touched. No reboot, no change of resources, nothing: this is billing only.
  • You can back out until you pay. A pending-change notice appears with a button to cancel the change, and everything stays as it was.
  • Any pending monthly renewal is voided and replaced by the new invoice. You are never charged twice.
  • The "You save X" label only shows when the longer cycle really is cheaper than paying month to month. If it is not there, it costs the same.

If it will not let you change

The panel tells you exactly why. The usual ones are:

  • "You have an active automatic payment at the payment gateway." If you have a PayPal or card subscription, it has to be cancelled first, otherwise it would keep charging the old cycle.
  • "You have a plan upgrade pending payment." Finish the upgrade first.
  • "An invoice for this service has a payment in progress." Wait for it to confirm; usually a matter of minutes.
  • "This product has no other billing cycles available." That product is only sold on one cycle. Drop us a message and we will look at it.
